However,I was able to bypass this bug by installing the game using the lokiinstaller. To get this game working: - Copy msvcirt.dll to \"~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32\" - Install the game using the loki installer ( www.liflg.org/?catid=7) - Modify the \"generals\" script so it will only call wine - Create the file \"~/Command and Conquer Generals Data/options.ini\"and put the following inside (adjust the resolution) (this bypassed thesplash screen freeze for me):

Heh. Yes, that's an old game. We are looking for a file named 'Cracked.dat'. It all started with the un-patched game. We made a mod, patched it before releasing it and then the next patch was released and we forgot all about this mod probably. So the game started looking for this 'Cracked.dat' in the system32 directory and it couldn't find it. I'm working on a way to make the game ignore the 'Cracked.dat' when it finds it.

I have no idea why you think this is an old game. I have plenty of games out of EA's xbox 360 collection and you know what? They all work perfectly fine.. no crashes, no compatibility problems.
